Braving the Cold!

My friend Angela wanted to take some portrait shots in Tower Park here in Peoria Heights, but little did we know it would be 35 degrees outside! We jumped out of our cars and made it happen, although maybe a feeling a little numb by the end. We still had a blast!

Playing Catch-Up

It's been a busy summer for us, but it's been infinitely more fun! Family and friends have filled our lives and we just love it. We've been to Seattle, Chilliwack, Vancouver, Denver, Breckenridge, Milwaukee, Chicago, Rockford, and Minneapolis. None of those were simply vacations, but they were to be with family for different celebrations!

Below are the videos I have blogged about since my last post, so if you haven't gotten a chance to see them, here they are!

Brock and Afton tied the knot on August 6th at Minnetonka Orchards in Minnesota! They're great friends of ours, so it was an absolute privilege and honor to capture their wedding. Praising God for the joy of their marriage and this awesome celebration! #Kempanions4Life

Armed Vision (AV) - was a Loves Park / Rockford, IL area rock band from 1979 through 1986. They rose to prominence in the stateline and even had the opportunity to open for Cheap Trick in 1984! They came back together to throw a huge reunion concert after their 35-year High School Class Reunion. They were absolutely incredible in concert! My uncle, Jay Samp, is one of the guitarists/vocals in the band.

Founded in 1979 as 'The Numbers', by original band members: Troy Lee, Lance Porter, Jay Samp, Rex Scott and Rick Zillhart. The Band changed its name to Armed Vision in 1981.
**Additional members included: Cesar Bruno, Bret Konietski, David Seaton, Brad Puckett and Ray Cook.

Here's an trailer video we created for our YouTube channel just to give people a glimpse of what we're about!

Our Rocky Mountain Adventure

Jessica and I had the privilege of flying out to Denver, CO to visit family for a few days. It was a blast to say the least! Time with family was so refreshing, especially considering I hadn't gotten to know many of them since Jess and I have been married. What a blessing it was to spend the weekend with everyone. We took a day trip to Breckenridge and hit Loveland Pass on the way back. Check out the video recap of that day and the photos under the video to get a glimpse of the beautiful sights!

Our trip to British Columbia!

What's up everybody!

We just got back last night from our trip to Chilliwack, British Columbia to celebrate the wedding of Jess's cousin, Stephen Langford, to his (now) wife Ali. It was a beautiful ceremony! We started by flying out to Seattle on Thursday and meeting with Jess's family and grandparents!

We walked around the Pike Place Market downtown and it was crazy busy, but also crazy fun! So many shops and places to eat! The view of the bay was beautiful too!

We then made our way up to Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada where the wedding took place. They were married at The Falls Golf Club, which was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! As the cinematographer, I was practically drooling at the opportunity to capture it all. Stephen and Ali are just fantastic together and God was honored mightily during the ceremony!

What a crazy beautiful wedding day, huh?! Gosh it was awesome. On top of that, it was Samantha's (Jess's sister) birthday! There was much to celebrate.

Jess was sweet to come early with me to set up and get our bearings to shoot the best video possible. It ended up being a 10.5 hour day, but it was SO much fun! I have an adrenaline rush through most of the day to get the best shots and piece together everything in my head. Jess was so helpful in getting the lay of the land and planning what order we should get certain shots. What an awesome partner!

It's always a privilege to be so up close and personal with the bride, groom, and bridal party. There's so much joy, laughter, fun, and love in those moments. I have the incredible opportunity to capture that joy, laughter, fun, and love. It's just an honor to be there for such a special day in their lives!

The day after the wedding we made a trip into Vancouver, had a delicious brunch, and walked downtown and near the bay. The city of Vancouver was very pretty and a blast to walk around all the shops and restaurants.

The beauty of the Northwest and British Columbia is breathtaking. I could've taken photos of the landscapes and cityscapes for months!

We drove back to Seattle Sunday night and flew out on Monday afternoon, my 23rd birthday. It was a day well spent in airports and airplanes with my lovely wife. And as a bonus, God created this scene for us to look at. Icing on the cake.

They're having a baby!

We had a mini photo shoot to take a couple shots with these two awesome friends of ours to announce that they're expecting! Such a joyous way to share the news. Jess and I were honored to even be a part of the process in such a huge moment in Nate and Elizabeth's lives.

We know the Lord will be faithful in preparing them and guiding them. Be praying for them as they begin this journey and trust in God all the while.

Welcome to Jordan Nelson Productions!

Hello! I'm so excited to finally get a website up and running! This has been a desire of mine for a while and it's been so fun getting to have all my work in one place. This site will start to be my professional "home base."

This photo below is my wife, Jessica, and I on a date in Forest Park in Peoria Heights, IL. You'll hear this many times, but I think she's amazing. She's simply the best. I don't apologize if I say that a few hundred times over the course of these blogs :)

I was reinvigorated for my love of cinematography and capturing special moments and events this last week while shooting a wedding and a marriage proposal for some sweet friends. There was just so much joy and whenever I knew I got a great shot, I was so excited for the couple to see it! In my mind I was just yelling, "YOU TWO LOOK SO GOOD, I WANT TO SHOW YOU THE HIGHLIGHT VIDEO NOW!" But alas, I had to go home and edit it all together, which is such a fun process. Creating a story with all the clips is like piecing together an intricate and beautiful puzzle. Everything must fit in the right place to make the who picture come together as it should. So fun and challenging! Both of those highlight films are on my cinematography page HERE.

But this last week was even more fun because my friends were involved and I got to celebrate with them! What's great about this business is that I get to partake in joyous celebrations in others lives, then I get to highlight the celebration and create it into a story for the recipient. How cool is that?! God has been very gracious to me, much more than I deserve. I don't deserve any of these opportunities, but he's given me his Son as atonement for my sin and he continues to be faithful in my life. I really don't want to take these friendships and opportunities for granted, because they are truly special.

I'm excited for future opportunities to capture memories and tell stories! Stay tuned for more content here on this blog about our adventures. You share on Facebook and subscribe to my blogs via email at the link below!

Until next time,

Jordan
